What is Horizon West? I get this question a lot.
Aside from being an awesome place to live, it does have a story to share.
Horizon West is a new community development area in SW Orange County that was conceptualized in 1995 and includes 23,000 former citrus groves that were devastated by freezes in the 1980s. It was designed using the principles of Garden Cities and New Urbanism to create self-sustaining, mixed use villages.
As the area continues to grow, the Horizon West Foundation ensures that new development contributes to environmental preservation, excellent design, quality access via bike and walking and exciting community gathering places.
Horizon West boasts some of the best public schools in all of Central Florida, wonderful town centers that bring together neighbors and the beauty of the outdoors. Several chain of lakes have public access and are within a 15 minute drive.
The Horizon West Area includes five mixed-use villages surrounded by greenbelts and each with their own town center.
